October Tarot Reading | The Healing Pool

Click on image to see full tarot card

by Sam Black

The Healing Pool – It is time to soak in the healing pool.  Allow the nutrients to come into your space and replenish what you have lost.  You are being called to cleanse and create partnership with your mind, body, and soul.  Remove the toxins from your body, the elements in your life that no longer serve you, and the hurt from your heart.  Allow the emotions from events to float away, giving you peace and insight.  You are being given the gift of healing at this time, an opportunity to put yourself first.  You can access healing whenever you are ready.  The healing pool and resources are within your reach.

Chakras to work with:  Sacral Chakra for self love and partnership.  Third Eye Chakra for trust, as your intuition is giving you insight on your healing journey.  Crown Chakra, reminding you that you have been placed here by the divine, part of a much larger picture.

Stones and Elements to work with:  Epsom and Sea Salts for replenishing and nourishing.  Clear Quartz and Amethyst for opening up with third eye and crown, inviting wisdom, insight and clearing.

Grounded Roots Intuitive Guidance Deck
On a chilly January morning in 2017, Sam was woken with the message from Spirit that it was time to create a tool to help others in their every day life.  Once everyone had left the house for school and work, Sam ran a warm bath (unlike her at this time of day) and with one foot in heard from Spirit again, “Go get your notebook”.  Thinking it was very strange, but open to listening, Sam got her notebook and began writing continuously for a couple of hours that flew by, Sam channeled the messages that would become the card descriptions of these cards.  Sam opened up the question of who would illustrate and the universe provided a quick connection to Victoria Heryet, a very talented fine artist in Vancouver, BC through her “Aunty Ingrid”.  Victoria was able to bring the images in Sam’s mind to life through water colour.  Every card has been intentioned with love and the highest of intentions for healing and well being by both Sam and Victoria.

By Amy Zellmer, Editor-in-chief Yoga is a powerful tool for neuroplasticity. Contrary to some beliefs, everyone can do yoga — you don’t need to be super flexible, be able to balance, or even be able to stand up. The beauty of yoga is every pose can be modified to accommodate anyone. An important aspect of […]

Resilience After a Brain Injury

By Dr. Shane Steadman, DC, DACNB, DCBCN, CNS Recovery after a brain injury can be a long journey. Working hard and hoping to get back to baseline often can be frustrating, and for some, unattainable. With the many doctor visits, exercises, rehab appointments, medications, and supplements, goals can become lost. However, amid recovering from a […]

Resiliency: Is It Just Personal or Part of Brain Chemistry?

By Deborah Zelinsky, O.D. The term resiliency encompasses “the range of personal protective factors, environmental supports, and resources, as well as self-regulatory processes, engaged in response to adversity,” according to investigators writing about recovery from traumatic brain injury (TBI) for the publication Disability and Rehabilitation. Indeed, author Mike Norton  said it best when he wrote, […]

Resiliency and the Courtroom

Resiliency and the Courtroom

By Jeff Heller Resiliency is one of the greatest attributes anyone can have. From an early age, parents teach their children, “if you get knocked down, you get back up.” Coaches teach their players, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” And one of the cornerstones of the underdog mentality is to “never […]

The Quality of Resilience

The Quality of Resilience

by Shauna Hahn Sometime in 2019, in the weekly “Healing and Recovery” therapy group I lead, we discussed the topic of the quality of “resilience.” When it came time for a patient to contribute, he said, “I don’t want to be resilient. I get tired of being resilient all the f**king time.” And I heard […]
